Earline Green - Lunch & Learn - Feb 7, 2023

The guest speaker for Feb. 7 is artist Earline Green, who is featured along with four other DFW area artists in the exhibition Connections, presented by the Irving Black Arts Council at the Irving Arts Center, January 28 – February 25, 2023. Earline Green is a retired assistant professor of fine arts with the Tarrant County College District and a ceramic artist with work in public and private collections. She is published in 500 Tiles, Image Transfer on Clay and Pottery Making Illustrated. Earline holds an MFA from Texas Woman’s University and is a long-time volunteer with the Empty Bowls Project, coordinating the annual production of some 200 bowls, the sales of which benefit the North Texas Food Bank and Tarrant Area Food Bank. Earline studies and creates pottery to honor and preserve historical legacies. The H. Wilson & Co. Legacy Revisited series is the result of years-long research to exemplify the spirit and celebrate the important legacy of enslaved potters in the State of Texas during Reconstruction (1865 – 77). Her ongoing Henrietta Dwells series is a tribute to the familial and scientific legacy of Henrietta Lacks (1920 – 1951). Lacks was an African-American woman whose cancer cells are the source of the HeLa cell line, the first immortalized human cell line and one of the most important cell lines in medical research.
